How Does PRP Help with Beauty and Anti-Aging?
The growth factors in the Platelet Rich Plasma promote healing, collagen production and elastin production which can drastically help in a variety of skin conditions. The new collagen helps to tighten skin, fill in wrinkles and stretch marks, smooth scars and shrink pores. Areas of the face plump and tighten to a more youthful appearance, pulling up tissue which causes other areas to sag due to loss of elasticity.
Is this Procedure Just for Women?
Absolutely not, men have seen great results from the PRP Facelift as well. The best part is, there is no downtime, stitches, or otherwise any evidence* that you even had a procedure done except for the gradual changes in your face’s appearance to a more youthful you.
* Bruising is possible with any facial injections, in which case it will fade within 7-10 days.
How Long Does It Take?
Before the procedure, your provider will go over the procedure and discuss with you your desires for the outcome and the actual results you can expect. The procedure is performed in our office at Sunshine Health Care Center and takes approximately 20 - 30 minutes, not including the time to extract and process your PRP. Many times the PRP Facelift is also combined with the Microneedling Facial. If this is the case, you should avoid wearing makeup and stay out of the sun for 2-3 days after the procedure. Gently wash your face with a mild soap twice a day, and apply a quality moisturizer. After that, you can wear light makeup and you should always wear a good sunscreen. You might consider scheduling the procedure at a time when you can stay home and rest for the first couple of days.
If you didn’t schedule the Micro-needling Facial with the Facelift, you may go back to wearing makeup immediately. You will begin to see improvements gradually after the first week with full healing at around the 5-6 week mark. You will continue to see gradual improvement for up to 3 months, and the results last for up to 18 months or more.
How Many Procedures Does It Take?
The PRP Facelift takes at least 2 treatments and up to 4 treatments depending on the results you are looking for and the condition of the area being treated. Ask us about a package discount. Does It Hurt?
We will give you a topical anesthetic cream to apply evenly to your entire face before the procedure. Once you are completely numb, your provider will administer the shots in the areas she deems most important to aesthetic appeal. It has been reported that the PRP itself has little to no pain upon injection. Juvederm® injections have a bit more pain due to it being a more viscous fluid, but that quickly recedes since the Juvederm itself has lidocaine. Ice will be applied to your lips, which are particularly sensitive, if you are going to receive injections there. As always, it’s important for you to communicate with our staff your tolerance to pain.
